Chloris Forest Carbon Data
Overview
Accessing Chloris data
You can order Chloris Forest Carbon data directly through Lens on a per-acre basis for $0.04/acre, with no minimum acreage requirement.
Add from the Lens Library: First, head to the Layers Library to add the Chloris Forest Carbon data package to your portfolios. You can select individual portfolios or apply the data across all portfolios.
Ordering data for Lens properties: From the Property Map View, you'll see Chloris as an option in the Order pane on the left side. You can also use the source filter to view just the Chloris data options.
Once you've selected an option, you'll see an order confirmation page to review what's included, the cost, and more. With your first purchase, you'll receive the entire historical archive as an added bonus.
Note: orders may take up to 5 business days to appear in the Layer dropdown as they are processed and prepared for your areas of interest.
Once it's been processed, you'll receive an email and be able to view this data in the layers dropdown, where you can view them in compare mode to see changes over the recent years, and save your observations as a note for later reporting.
Analyzing
The Carbon Stock and Forest Cover layers can also be viewed in the Analysis tool to visualize changes back to 2000. The Carbon Stock Change layer is a helpful way to visualize which parts of your property have had the most carbon change year-to-year.
Reporting
Analysis charts and observations made while viewing Chloris data can be saved to your Lens account as Notes. These notes can be exported from Lens by clicking the Report button at the top of the Notes pane. Reports will include all attribution, interpretations, and visuals.
Sharing and downloading
Lens allows you to easily share Chloris's Forest Carbon data. In addition to sharing observations via Reports, you can also generate share links and create embedded maps.
You can download the Chloris data as GeoTIFFs from the Details pane, which provides you with georeferenced raster files. These are exported at full resolution, and can be used in GIS applications. To download a GeoTIFF of a layer, navigate to the Details pane while viewing the Chloris data you'd like to download.
For carbon stock data, the main data file will have only one band where the values represent MgC/ha. For carbon stock change data, the band represents MGc/ha/year. Both downloads also include a standard error of the above-gound biomass stock estimates in MgC/ha or the above-ground biomass change estimates in MgC/ha.
Forest cover provides a boolean mask where 1=forest and 0=non-forest. When downloading forest cover data, you will also receive a forest_area_gain file where 1 = transition to forest within the specified year and 0 = non transition as well as a forest_area_loss file where 1 = transition to non-forest within the specified year and 0 = no transition.
