Ordering forest carbon data

Overview

Lens allows you to easily order forest carbon data from Chloris Geospatial and Planet Labs. Data can be ordered for individual properties or for multiple properties at once.

Adding datasets from the Library

In order to be able to order either of the carbon datasets, they first must be added to your portfolio(s) from the Library. 

  • First, navigate to the Library in the navigation menu on the left side of the screen.
  • Next, search for the dataset you're looking for and click the gear icon to add it to individual portfolios or all of your portfolios.

Ordering data for one property

To order data for an individual, select "Order" from the left side of the screen and you'll see a list of available imagery and data.

Use the Source button to quickly filter the list to only display the carbon datasets.

After you've found the dataset you'd like to order, click on that row in the list to open a preview. The order preview will show the cost and which datasets are included in your order. You'll receive an email letting you know when your order has been processed and is ready to use for that property. 

Orders from Planet are typically processed within a few hours because their data is preprocessed. Orders from Chloris can take up to five business days to process as they're prepared for individual areas.

Ordering carbon data in bulk for multiple properties

Order carbon data for multiple properties or even an entire portfolio can be done in just a few steps from the portfolio overview page. 

  • First, be sure you've added the carbon datasets to the portfolio from the Library
  • Next, open your portfolio and select the properties you'd like to order the data for. You can also select all of the properties in a portfolio by ticking the box to the left of the Name column.
  • Click the Bulk Order button in the blue row and select the dataset you'd like to order.

  • You will then go through a two-step order confirmation process where you can review your order and preview the total cost. If you've already ordered that dataset for a property that's been selected, it will automatically be skipped and you will not be charged for that area.

  • Once the data has been processed for all of the properties in your order, you will see a notification in the Lens digest email and under Recent Activity on your Lens homepage. You can adjust these email notification settings under your account settings.
